Swahili Words Explained

In Kenya, where Momo, Geno, and Alid live, lots of people speak Swahili.

Do you know what hodi means? It is a Swahili word that means ‘knock knock’. Another Swahili word used in this story is karibu. This means ‘welcome’. Matoke is a green cooking banana. It can be boiled, or cooked with coconut milk. It can also be fried to make delicious banana crisps.
